Did you know you can just type in the values instead of using the up/down buttons?

This also works for the level!

Always buy the lower priced!

When you have two properties with vary similar p/h (both green or blue), you should ALWAYS buy the lowest priced one because of the time involved to generate the income to buy the second one AND the lost income accured in that time.

1.
Why settle for random recruitment or expect the other guy to do the leg work and recruit you? Do your own recruiting, and while you are at it why not target active, quality players? Any linked name is recruitable, click the link to go to their profile and press recruit, try this now. The list for elites is a good place to start.

2.
roXon's advice here was good, if not overly basic an obvious.

3.
The biggest fault here is that making sure you have the larger army VASTLY oversimplifies the battle system. If that is all you are looking at expect many losses.

4.
You NEED materials! I am a ranked elite for my level under wealth (#7 as I write this), so I know what I am talking about. What he is talking about is resetting the p/h level, by lowering the number of materials. The problem with this philosophy is that if you don't have the materials, they can not generate any income. As your properties grow in numbers the p/h price will climb. It does not take long before it makes sense to purchase and use materials for their income because, the p/h price is lower than any property's p/h price.

1.
If you are new to the game. Go to the game forum and ask people to recruit you. There leave your recruitment code
(ex: A1BC2) so people can find you.
Attack menu. There is a list of people you can attack. Alwais check the inventory of someona you plan to attack.
If you see that his inventory or stats are better than yours- consider not to attack this player.
You can always RECRUIT him!
You will always need the maximum of army members available to sucessfully win attacks-defences.

2.
No need to exagerately buy ships, weapons, armors! As usually people do. That wil not make them stronger.
You can win attacks, you need only one ship, armor, weapon, tech per number of army player.
Buy always the best equipments for each of your army member.
Put rather money on investments.

3.
If you want to save fuel and earn money make assaults! (engage - assault)
After level 12 if you are well armed: attack mostly players.
You can earn good money attacking players higher level,
but keep always an eye that your army is bigger than theirs.

4.
Investments. If you plan to buy Engineering- never buy more Materials
than the piece of engeneering needs. You'll be loosing money,
'cause more materials/engeeneerings you have that the any next piece will be more expensive.
After you buyed the piece of Enginee. you were searching for, return to the Materials screen and you'll see
that the costs are back to stock.
